Dr. Min Li, a native of
China, has been practicing acupuncture and herblogy for many years. She is currently heading America Asia Acuherb Clinic located at 9033 Shady Grove Court, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. Tel # (301) 869-9802.  Bill and Alice Cheng first sought her help after being involved in a car accident in May 2007 and had successfully recovered after several treatments from Dr. Li.

          Dr. Li explained that several important ingredients contribute to one’s good health: good spirit and happiness,
          good sleep, eating right type of foods, regular bowel movement and exercising regularly. Two areas that older
          person needs to pay particular attention are: liver function and back and neck problems caused by spinal.
          The key to maintaining good health is to establish good health habits and follow them consistently.
          She then shared with us about her own daily routines and health habits:

·         Wake up at 6:30am and spend 30 minutes for warm ups and exercise.  These include 10 minutes of Chi Gong (breathing exercise) followed by massages on various body parts including hands, eye, face, neck and chest. Afterwards, lie down and do exercise to stretch muscle on arms, legs, back and abdomen.

·         Breakfast: eat two cups of oatmeal and one cup of mixtures of several types of grains plus nuts, raisin and an egg. Drink adequate amount of fluid such as herb tea or juice.

·         Lunch: eat a full meal including meat or fish and green vegetables.  The lunch will serve as the main meal for the day and should contain enough protein, grains and fibers.

·         Dinner: eat a light dinner, mostly vegetables to avoid indigestion during the night. Drink a cup of fruit juice before retiring in the evening.

      Regularly examine your body by touching and pressing every parts of your body (head, chest, abdomen, neck, back , and limbs). Find the body parts that have pains and press and massage them. Because various body parts are interconnected, sometimes massaging one part can trigger the healing of another part. For example, massaging neck can cure chronicle sinus problem. Dr. Li was able to cure many chronicle diseases where traditional western medications failed.

·        Dr. Li. said that she is not against certain western medical treatments, but is opposed to the proliferation of using multiple drugs. For instance, she believed that the use of antibiotics will have quick relief to infectious diseases.  After the infection is under control, then use herbs to improve body condition. She also answered questions and commented about certain herbs and their long-term effectiveness in curing diseases. She explained that, in general, a person will be prone to diseases if body’s metabolisms are imbalance. She can tell readily if a person suffers malfunction internally. The typical symptoms may include bad mouth odor, red tongue and/or the dry eye and lips.


              Lastly, Dr Li encouraged all of us to maintain good health habits in order to live longer to enjoy life.
